STRENGTH APP ASO
These are potential audiences to research, not measured demographic segments. Training experience, program ownership, available equipment, time, devices and locale are more useful starting points than stereotypes.
Interview lifters across ages, genders, abilities and experience levels. Compare what they say with consented onboarding choices, search-term reports, completed workouts, return sessions and support questions.

| Potential audience | Job | Question to investigate | Proof to show |
|---|---|---|---|
| First-time gym users | Know what to do in the room | Equipment uncertainty, form and crowded spaces | A simple first session, substitutions and clear guidance |
| Self-programming lifters | Log a plan with minimal friction | Slow entry, missing exercise variants and rigid templates | Previous sets, rapid logging and editable routines |
| Plan-seeking beginners | Follow a coherent program | Too many choices and no sense of progression | A readable week, progression rules and an achievable first workout |
| Intermediate lifters | Progress without rebuilding the plan | Plateaus and distrust of black-box recommendations | Training history, suggested next set and manual control |
| Powerlifters | Track squat, bench and deadlift precisely | RPE/RIR, attempt planning and unit precision | Competition lifts, intensity fields and history |
| Hypertrophy-focused users | Manage volume across muscle groups | Recovery, exercise selection and weekly volume | Program split, set history and muscle-group views |
| Home-gym owners | Build around available equipment | Limited plates, machines and substitutions | Equipment selection and an honestly adapted plan |
| Time-constrained adults | Keep strength work inside the week | Missed days and unpredictable session length | Three-day options, move-day controls and short sessions |
| Coach-supported clients | Receive and complete assigned work | Confusing changes and weak feedback loops | Coach plan, notes, completion and progress review |
| Locale-specific lifters | Train in familiar language and units | Exercise naming, kg/lb conventions and support | Native copy, correct units and localized exercise terms |

Long-tail does not mean easy. A narrow phrase becomes useful when it joins a real audience, constraint, supported feature and proof the listing can show.
Swipe horizontally to compare all columns →
| Narrow angle | Candidate phrases | Product evidence | Creative direction |
|---|---|---|---|
| First gym week | first gym workout plan; beginner gym routine | A safe, simple first week and supported substitutions | Show the first session rather than an advanced athlete |
| Progressive overload | progressive overload app; next set workout tracker | Transparent suggestion logic, history and override | Show completed sets leading to the next suggestion |
| Three-day strength | three day gym program; strength plan for busy people | A complete three-day program and move-day controls | Show the real week and session length |
| Small home gym | home gym workout planner; adjustable dumbbell program | Equipment-aware planning and honest substitutions | Show selected equipment and the changed plan |
| Powerlifting log | squat bench deadlift tracker; powerlifting program app | Competition lifts, RPE/RIR and precise history | Use lift-specific fields, not general fitness imagery |
| Hypertrophy planning | hypertrophy workout app; muscle group volume tracker | Program split and reliable volume views | Show how the week covers target muscle groups |
| No subscription | workout tracker without subscription; offline workout tracker | Accurate pricing, storage and export behavior | Explain the buying model without hiding product value |
| Watch logging | Apple Watch strength tracker; Wear OS gym tracker | A current watch action that works during training | Show the exact logging or timer action |
Validate the phrases with the long-tail guide and first-party evidence. Do not add method names or competitor brands to metadata merely because they appear in research.

The App Store metadata above uses the US storefront and was checked on 26 October 2026. Matching US Google Play pages were verified for Strong, Hevy, Fitbod, Alpha Progression, Boostcamp and JEFIT. A matching Play listing was not verified for Ladder or StrengthLog during this pass, so no Android strategy is inferred for those two products.
Apple and Google expose different fields and testing surfaces. Write for each platform instead of stretching one iOS block across both stores.

All 20 panels below were opened at readable size. Visible choices are separated from recommendations, and no screenshot set is treated as proof of conversion performance.
Original screenshot artwork from the Strong US App Store listing, captured 26 October 2026. Select a panel to enlarge it.
What you can learn: The sequence moves from a completed session to exercise instruction, a plate calculator and a rest timer. The product makes small in-gym jobs visible instead of relying only on a motivation message.
What I would test: Test a first frame focused on logging speed or the next set for experienced lifters, while preserving the utility proof in later frames. The outcome is unknown until tested.
Original screenshot artwork from the Hevy US App Store listing, captured 26 October 2026. Select a panel to enlarge it.
What you can learn: The opening says log workouts, get stronger and stay motivated. The following frames explain logging, analysis and routine planning with large readable screens.
What I would test: Test replacing the broad three-line promise with one job-led opening for plan seekers or fast loggers; keep the other frames fixed. The outcome is unknown until tested.
Original screenshot artwork from the Fitbod US App Store listing, captured 26 October 2026. Select a panel to enlarge it.
What you can learn: The set shows a generated workout, muscle-recovery status and recommended exercises, reps and weights. The visible system makes the smart-workout promise more concrete.
What I would test: Test an opening that shows the input-to-recommendation path before awards or review-count proof. Recheck every volatile badge before release. The outcome is unknown until tested.
Original screenshot artwork from the Ladder US App Store listing, captured 26 October 2026. Select a panel to enlarge it.
What you can learn: The first frame leads with a plan promise and awards. Later panels show coach-led teams, a workout screen and a plan-selection experience.
What I would test: Test moving the readable weekly-plan mechanism earlier for non-brand searchers who may not yet understand the team model. The outcome is unknown until tested.

Original screenshot artwork from the Alpha Progression US App Store listing, captured 26 October 2026. Select a panel to enlarge it.
What you can learn: The panels show a program, a transformation testimonial, a progression recommendation and custom muscle-building programs. The message is specific, but the proof types vary sharply.
What I would test: Test training-history or next-set proof against the body-transformation frame. Verify consent, dates and claims before any testimonial is used. The outcome is unknown until tested.

LiftMap is fictional. This example assumes the app truly supports routine planning, fast set logging, equipment filters, progression suggestions with manual override, rest timers and training history. Verify every feature before reuse.

| Field | Worked copy | Count |
|---|---|---|
| iOS name | LiftMap: Strength Training | 26 / 30 |
| iOS subtitle | Gym Planner & Workout Log | 25 / 30 |

| Google Play app name | LiftMap: Strength Training | 26 / 30 |
| Google Play short description | Plan gym sessions, log every set and see your next strength progression. | 72 / 80 |
iOS description opening: LiftMap turns your schedule, equipment and training history into a clear strength plan. Log each set without leaving the workout, see the previous load, and review the next suggestion before accepting or adjusting it.
Google Play full-description opening: Stop deciding every set from memory. Build a strength week around your available days and equipment, log weights and reps quickly, and keep a clear history for every lift. LiftMap shows the reason behind each suggestion and leaves the final decision with you.
Swipe horizontally to compare all columns →
| Frame | Message | Visible product proof |
|---|---|---|
| 01 | Know your next set | Completed sets and a supported next-set suggestion |
| 02 | Build around your gym | Equipment selections connected to a real week |
| 03 | Log without losing the workout | Previous values, quick entry and rest timer |
| 04 | See progression lift by lift | History for load, reps and completed sessions |
| 05 | Move the day. Keep the plan. | Weekly schedule with a rescheduled session |
Primary CTA: Build my strength week. Alternative to test: Log my first workout. Choose the CTA that matches the real onboarding path.
Plan a short preview with the storytelling guide: select days and equipment, show the program, log a set, then review the next suggestion. It should remain understandable without audio.

These are review checks, not claims that every competitor makes every mistake. A controlled test is needed before attributing any conversion effect.

| Mistake | What becomes unclear | Better starting point |
|---|---|---|
| Calling every feature AI | The training decision and limits disappear | Show the input, rule and editable suggestion |
| Using a body transformation as the main proof | Product behavior and attribution remain unknown | Show training history, program structure or logging |
| Putting every training method in frame one | No lifter can see the strongest job | Lead with logging, planning or coaching |
| Showing a generic dashboard | The important gym action is too small | Crop to a set, program or progression decision |
| Claiming progressive overload without logic | The promise looks interchangeable | Explain how the next suggestion is formed |
| Hiding equipment constraints | Home and small-gym users cannot judge fit | Show equipment input and substitutions early |
| Leading with a free trial | Price timing replaces product value | Earn interest with the training job first |
| Treating beginners like a stereotype | Copy can sound patronizing or unsafe | Use research language and an achievable first session |
| Copying iOS fields into Google Play | The extra short-description room is wasted | Write platform-specific supporting copy |
| Leaving units and exercise names untranslated | The experience feels foreign after the store page | Localize terminology, kg/lb and product content together |

This is a dated US storefront snapshot from 26 October 2026, not a forecast. Each hypothesis still needs product-level validation.
Swipe horizontally to compare all columns →
| Current pattern | Primary evidence | Hypothesis to test |
|---|---|---|
| Next-step guidance | Fitbod and Alpha Progression describe recommendations; reviewed creative shows weights, reps or progression | Visible logic may distinguish guidance better than the label AI |
| Logging plus planning | Strong, Hevy, JEFIT, Boostcamp and StrengthLog combine logging with routines or programs | The opening should choose which job wins rather than list both equally |
| Coach or team identity | Ladder organizes training around coach-led teams | Human structure may explain adherence better than a generic content library |
| Method-specific search language | Current descriptions mention 5x5, powerlifting, PPL and other program types | Specific pages are credible only when the exact program exists |
| Volatile proof in creative | Reviewed sets use awards, rating graphics, counts, offers or testimonials | A release checklist is required before these assets ship |

These AI-generated concepts use the fictional LiftMap product. They are not real competitor screenshots, shipped UI, tested designs or evidence of performance. They make two hypotheses easier to discuss.

AI CONCEPT / UNTESTED
What the app promises: the next set is connected to work the lifter has just completed.
What you can learn: the completed 80 kg sets and visible 82.5 kg suggestion give progression a concrete mechanism.
What I would test: compare this mechanism-led opening with a general workout-tracker message for relevant progression intent.
Human review: rebuild with real UI and verified logic. A generated 2.5 kg increase is not automatically safe or appropriate; explain the rule, support available plates and preserve manual control.

AI CONCEPT / UNTESTED
What the app promises: available equipment changes the program the user receives.
What you can learn: the selected barbell, bench and dumbbells sit directly above a readable three-day week.
What I would test: use this direction only for equipment-aware queries and compare it with a general strength-plan page.
Human review: replace generated UI with the real equipment selector and program. Verify every exercise can be performed with the selected setup, including plates, rack and safe substitutions.

| Step | Approved input | Useful prompt direction | Human check |
|---|---|---|---|
| Choose the job | Validated audience question and real feature | Show one strength decision the product can support | Reject unsupported outcome promises |
| Protect the product | Current screens, exercise names, rules and dimensions | Preserve supplied UI while exploring hierarchy | Replace invented controls, weights and states |
| Make variants | One hypothesis and controlled variable | Compare progression proof with logging-speed proof | Keep offer and product state fixed |
| Review safety | Approved terminology and training disclaimers | Avoid prescribing an unsafe load | Product and subject-matter review before release |
| Review access | Thumbnail, contrast and localization brief | Use short copy and non-colour selection cues | Check size, units, truncation and contrast |
| Test carefully | Audience, store surface, event and stop rule | Prepare the production treatment | Do not call an AI draft tested |
