Define the observation you are repeating.
Record the exact query, store, market, observation date and data source. If the provider changes its collection method or you change the query set, note the break. Comparable observations are more useful than a larger spreadsheet of mixed contexts.
Use keyword research to justify the tracked terms. A list of easy-looking phrases can make reporting attractive while saying little about the app’s intended audience.
Keep missing ranks distinct from zero.
A tool may report that a result was not observed within its tracked range. That is different from a known position and different from a measurement failure. Preserve the provider’s meaning rather than assigning a convenient numeric value.
The sample series uses a visible gap for an unknown observation. Connecting a smooth line across that gap would imply evidence you do not have. Record why data is missing when that explanation is available.
Annotate the timeline before interpreting it.
Add metadata releases, product changes, campaign activity and known collection issues. A rank change that follows an edit is a sequence in time; it is not automatically evidence that the edit caused it.
Use a change log to make competing explanations visible. Avoid claiming an algorithm update based solely on one app’s chart.
Separate relevance from position.
A higher position for a poorly matched term may not attract useful users. Review whether the query represents a supported task and whether the listing makes the right promise. Report important losses as well as gains.
Connect the tracked set to product relevance. If a term no longer belongs in the brief, explain its removal instead of silently changing the basket to improve the chart.
Read ranks alongside business evidence.
Use acquisition and product measures to ask whether increased visibility coincides with suitable users arriving. Ranking data alone cannot identify the number of incremental downloads or explain their quality.
The visibility-score guide explains another layer of aggregation. Keep query-level observations available behind any summary score so reviewers can inspect what changed.
