Not validating your ASO keywords (ASO Mistakes 6) - Show #26
This is a pretty grave ASO mistake, and sadly one that many often make.
Validating your keywords is not easy.
You need to determine if your keyword has download intent.
Was your potential customer only browsing the App Store for something to download when they used your keyword?
Or did they use a keyword with the intent to download an app that matches your app, your niche and other features?
If they were browsing, you won’t be getting the engagements and traffic you are expecting because your users are not loyal. They just stumbled onto your app by accident, thanks to a browsing oriented keyword you used.
However, if they had every intent to download this app, then it means you chose a keyword with download intent.
This is a superior kind of keyword and you need to validate it via paid traffic and search ads.
Remember, all your ASO efforts will go to waste if your keywords won’t get you new users.
Make sure that you are using the right kind of keywords that target users that have the intention to download, and not those just browsing.
