There are so many ASO tools out there, it can be hard to choose. 

However, keep in mind that you don’t need too many bells and whistles and I recommend using tools that are easy and those that “KISS” – or “keep it simple stupid.” 

ASO tools can provide the following information: Category rankings, New Apps, Top publishers and Top selling charts. These are great info points but they are not ASO info. You won’t be using them dramatically. 

They can also help you analyse your reviews, visualise your screenshot and icons, and let you know which app is going up or down. These are fantastic extra features but you won’t be needing them right away. 

So what do you focus on when choosing an ASO tool?

Prepare to be overwhelmed when shopping around for an ASO tool. 

When choosing ASO tools, make sure they have the following features: 

1) keyword tracking 

2) ranking history of your app (based on the days of the weeks/app updates and more) 

3) competition insights & suggestions (Apple search ads/keyword suggestion/competition analysis) 

4) download estimates – Focus on these features – you will be using them all the time. 

At the very least, your ASO tool should be able to track your progress (ranking) as well as help with your keyword research process, across the different app stores per country.
